Too Short of a Weekend

Friday
Steven finally came home to me! It felt a lot longer than two weeks. When he walked through the door, I couldn't help but think of how he's going to be leaving again on Sunday. I quickly pushed that thought out and hugged him tightly.

To celebrate his return, I made steak, mashed potatoes, a baked potato (per Steve's request), roasted asparagus, and peach pie for Steve and my roommates. It was mostly successful. I don't have any experience with a cast iron pan or cooking such a thick piece of meat. Everyone enjoyed their food so it worked out fine. My roommate, Tom, asked "What's the occasion?" My response was "Steve's back!"

Also, Steve has so much facial hair now. He also looks more masculine with it so I'm not complaining :)

Saturday
I had too much wine on Friday night-- and not enough water or food; three slices of steak to be exact. I woke up around 4 AM to vomit. I was trying to vomit quietly but that failed and Steve came in to pat my back and give me water. I told him "Don't look at me! I'm disgusting!" He laughed and kissed my forehead.

I slept most of the day while Steve went to have lunch with his friend, Brian, and get a haircut. We had a movie date later on. We had Raising Cane's for dinner and watched Black Panther. I told Steve that the best part of the movie was Michael B. Jordan and he told me to shut it while gently pushing me away.

Another night sleeping next to my grizzly bear. My actual body was a teeny bit uncomfortable but I was overjoyed to have my kittens and my love by my side.

Sunday
My Sunday morning started with an important question: "What should we eat?” I decided on the Hot N Juicy Crawfish restaurant around the corner from our townhouse. Steve ordered so much food for himself. I'm always amazed by the amount of food he can eat. I had clams and mussels which I really enjoyed. Tom was dying from the mildly spiced crawfish. It was very entertaining to watch. After lunch, Steve went to take care of his broken Cadillac. So my roommates and I went grocery shopping and headed home. I got some reading done and cuddled with Cloud for a bit before taking a nap. We had dinner plans with Steve's friends and after that Steve had a long road back to Lake Isabella.

Goodbyes are always hard. And coming home to an empty bed doesn't help the emptiness. So I dived into the rest of Jim Butcher's Storm Front. I just have to keep busy with my cats and books so I don't feel too sad about Steve not being close by.
